I get almost hourly updates from a little gym I go to. There are two sisters who own and run it, together with one in the next town. They don’t offer 24 hours opening, in fact they only manage a couple of hours after 9 and in late afternoon. They cover this shortage of hours by describing their business as boutique for ladies only. It works. They have a fantastic little business running on social media. All information to be notified to members is on there – pictures of successful work outs with happy, glowing ladies – it feeds a mutual enthusiasm for the business to help us to get fit and for us to help them continue. This sort of information barter system could include other small businesses. Maybe a gym machinery maintenance company, and perhaps podiatry and complementary medicine suppliers could be featured on the social page. It’s just a matter of asking and supplying good reliable service.
